Another Fantastic Clan Blair Society Trip !

What an outstanding trip ! Many thanks to Dr. Bill Blair for picking up the reigns and working with Bill Smith to create a fabulous Scotland trip.

A stay with the Borwicks at the Blair Estate was far too short, but there was much to do and see. Wonderful and generous hosts, the Borwick family warmed our hearts and excited our imaginations with Blair history and hospitality. The opportunity to meet, and socialize with The Right Honorable Robin Blair, Lord Lyon King of Arms as well as local Blairs was a thrill. Neil Blair, another local in the area, led us on a tour of the area which included the Delgavin Mill and the Mason's Mother Lodge #1. Co-publisher of the Blair of Balthayock book, Jack Blair, also joined us on several occasions.

We toured the Blair Estate, Dunskey House, Blairquahn, Balthayock, ArdBlair Castle, and Lochnell House. And these were just our Blair relations. Visits to Glasgow, Edinburgh, the Isle of Mull, Isle of Iona, the Burns Cottage, Edinburgh Castle, Culzean Castle, Duart on the Isle of Mull, Dunstaffnage, and Inverary Castle were just some of our stops! There were many, many more.

And if anybody tries to tell us that food in Scotland is not good, beware! We have pounds to attest to some of the finest dining you could imagine abroad. A fine meal was had more than once a day! Oh, just the breakfasts!!!

Several reports on the trip have been published in our newsletter, Blair Bruidhinn. We started our trip with 22 and ended with 24 participants. It was a great group to travel with. Our bus driver and tour guide were just tremendous, knowledgeable, and loads of fun. We will be looking forward to them leading our tour in August, 2005.

If you have an interest in seeing more about this tour and previous tours, we have video tapes in our library at Moultrie, GA. See our Library page for information on getting a loan of these. The 2002 tape is currently in the process of being edited and prepared, but should be available later in 2003.

Watch these pages for our next Clan Blair Society tour in August of 2005. Planning will begin again by 2004. So, start saving those, nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollars! And, don't take any appointments for August, 2005 until you've reserved the dates for the trip.
